One thing I am sure of is that I loved the world and the story, and I think there might have been something else to it, too, that's a bit harder to define. But I can't remember much of what that was in terms of details. I got it the Christmas it came out, so it was 14 years ago.

Color me intrigued. In some quarters "Myst without the puzzles" would be considered an insult, but I think it's an interesting creative gambit. What I wonder is, is it the world you liked about the Dig, the story, or the combination thereof? Or something else entirely? Obviously you don't know the answer yet, but I am curious.

I think exploration games specifically could benefit from this type of mindset, and that's the idea I came up with after I got microwaved with this vision for a story almost a year ago.

I also just realized that I am making it sound like I wanted to make "Myst minus the puzzles" first, and then came up other stuff later, which is totally not the case. After explaining my game idea to Ted, he suggested that description, which I thought was very apt and related to my frustrations with The Dig as a young teen. Maybe I should edit...

BTW I feel bad for not visiting your blog much. I should check out the demos you have over there. Don't you have some prototypes posted?

Word. ;)

I feel the same way. I'm not 100% convinced that the "game" part is holding back anything, but I'm eager to see what we can do without it.

Plus, that's an awesome little infographic. :)
